While traveling to other countries, Satyanarayan kept meeting incredibly talented freelancers and professional virtual assistants — people who were exceptional at what they did, yet were still running their entire business on a patchwork of Google Docs, Excel sheets, and endless email threads.
They were tracking clients in spreadsheets, writing proposals from scratch every time, manually creating contracts, managing projects across five different apps, and chasing invoices with follow-up emails. The tools they needed either didn't exist, were too expensive, or were built for large agencies — not for the independent professional.
That's when the idea for SakuDesk was born. A single, calm control desk where a freelancer or VA could manage their entire operation — clients, proposals, contracts, projects, and invoices — all in one beautiful workspace. No juggling tabs. No copy-pasting between apps. Just one place to run the business.
Satyanarayan set out to build exactly that. With 8+ years of software engineering experience and a passion for creating efficient, low-cost solutions, he designed SakuDesk from the ground up to be the tool he wished every freelancer he met on his travels had access to.
